At Keith's
Unheralded M. C. Carries Off Top Honors.
Keith's has come up this week with one of the best well-balanced
apolis a little more than a month ago. None of the various acts bogs
a chance to see what the guy next to you looks like. There's plenty of laughs for everyone. My vote for the best entertainment goes to Jack ‘Marshall, the fellow who handles the master-of-ceremonies job expertly and -who wasn't even mentioned in the cast. Mr, Marshall has a rapid fire delivery which pleased everyone at the show’s opening yesterday. Of particular note is his imitation of the various steps of the young man who is drafted.
Harry Savoy Is Good
Harry Savoy, who played stooge for Eddie Cantor, keeps his gags rolling out and works with some of the members of the cast. He knows how to handle an audience. Larimer and Hudson were pleasing as trick cyclists and Fitz and Carroll were well received in their knockabout antics. The three Novak Sisters - really tossed each other around. It’s hard to figure how Howard Nichols can juggle the hoops as he does. It’s expert work.
” # #
THE FILM at Keith’s is “Shepherd of the Ozarks,” the story of the citizens in the backwoods and hill community who get their first taste of the “wicked” city. Highlight of the film is the scene of the U. S. army's war games. The community folk never heard of such a thing and think that their own little town is being invaded. : What a surprise for the soldiers when they find out that they are being shot at with real bullets. Stars of the picture are the Weaver Brothers and Elviry, Frank Albertson and Marilyn Hare.—F. W,

pursuit planes late yesterday sent one of them crashing in flames on a farm west of here shortly after the pilot, Lieut. E. W. Hille Jr. of Denver, Colo., parachuted to safety. Lieut. Newell O. Roberts, pilot of the second plane, made a bellylanding several miles from the scene of the crash without injury. Hille, whose plane exploded when it rammed into the ground, received minor cuts and bruises.
