DRUGGIST DIES: RITES ARE SET

George Spanagel to Be Buried in Ohio, Lived Here 9 Years.

George Spanagel, operator of the Spanagel pharmacy, 403¢ E. Washington st., will be buried. tomorrow after 10:30 a. m. services at the Dorsey funeral home. Burial will be at New Paris, O. Mr. Spanagel, who was 54, died Monday at his home, 15 S. Gladstone ave. He was a native of Lawrenceburg and had lived here for the past nine years. He was a member of the Lawrenceburg Evangelical Lutheran church and the Indianapolis Druggists’ Association. Survivors are his wife, Alice; a daughter, Mrs. Sara Jordan of Indianapolis, and his mother, Mrs. Helena Frazer of Lawrenceburg.

URGES SACRIFICE TO GET LASTING PEACE

WASHINGTON, May 20 (U. P.) .— Vice President Henry Wallace, speaking at the opening of an interAmerican radio network, said last night that the peoples of the Amerjcas must “subordinate private and national interests” in order to build a lasting peace after the war, “Even in this hour of bloody war,” he said, the American peoples must “show the whole world that an entire hemisphere can achieve a great unity based on a general welfare.” ~ Mr. Wallace spoke in Spanish on the inaugural program of the Columbia Broadcasting System’s “network of the. Americas.”

M’'CAMMON GROUP GRADUATES FRIDAY

Twenty-five students of the McCammon courses in speaking, salesmanship and human relations will be graduated at 6:30 p. m. Friday at a dinner in the Hotel Washington. The new commander of the state guard in this area is Col James W. Hurt, Indianapolis real estate man, He was promoted from major to colonel yesterday by Governor Schricker and named to command the third regiment of the state guard, composed of companies in Indianapolis, Elwood, Anderson and Muncie. He succeeds Col. Arthur C. Newkirk who was called to active service.

HENRY A. KRUEGER, TOOL FOREMAN, DIES

Henry A. Krueger, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, is to be buried in Washington Park this afternoon following services at the residence, 5400 S. State ave. He died Monday at Methodist hospital. Mr. Krueger was 54 and a tool and dye foreman at the Climax Machine Co. He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Betty Lou Krueger, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Joerandt, Mrs. Martin Dennis and Mrs. Carl Kolthoff, all of Indianapolis.

PROPOSES MOTHERS’ UNIT WASHINGTON, May 20 (U. P.).— The nation’s only woman senator, Hattie W. Caraway (D. Ark.) today had a bill before the senate to establish the .United States Army Mothers, Inc., a society to be composed of the mothers, wives, daughters and sisters of men and women in the army.

Ermest H. Rieman, operator of the Irvington Flower Shop, died yesterday at his home, 102 S. Bradley ave. He was T2. A native of Germany, Mr. Rieman came to this country when ‘he was 17. He was a member of the Indianapolis Saengerbund. Services will be held at 3 p. m. tomorrow at the home. Burial will be in Crown Hill. Survivors include his wife, Lena; a son, Carl of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mis. Norma Fye of Seymour and Mrs. Margaret Riser of Steubenville, O., and two brothers, Fritz and August of Indianapolis.

Gertrude Jermain

Services for Mrs. Gertrude L. Jermain, will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at her home, 620 N. Tibbs ave. She was 67. Mrs. Jermain died Monday at her home after a brief illness. She had lived here for half a century and was a member of the Progress Rebekah lodge. Survivors are a son, Harry, of Washington; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Walls of Indianapolis, and one granddaughter.

She became head of the department in - 1932 upon the death of Dr. Edwin Post. During her 35 years at DePauw, she served under six of the university’s nine presidents.

NEW CASTLE, Ind, May 20.(U. P.) —Funeral services for Albert. S. Jessup, father of the Carnegie Foundation head and former University of Iowa president, Dr. Walter A. Jessup, will be held tomorrow at 1 p. m. from the Spiceland home of Mrs. William G. Smith, a daughy ter. Mr. Jessup, a native of Wayne county, died Monday night at the Smith home after a brief illness. He was 89. A retired farmer, Mr. Jessup was the father of three educators. In addition to Dr. Walter Jessup, he is survived by a son John, University of Washington professor, and a step-daughter Miss Nellie Jones, Logansport school teacher.

JOHN MOORMAN DEAD AT KNOX

‘Moorman, Republican leader and an|-

unofficial figure in the campaign which put Warren G. Harding in

| the presidency, died here yesterday

at his home of heart disease. A former publisher of the Starke County Republican, he had in later years devoted his whole: attention to the manageinent of farm properties. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon in the Knox Methodist church. Surviving him are his wife; a son, John D. Moorman, of Knox, and two grandchildren. Born in Spaulding county, Ohio, Mr. Moorman came to‘ Indiana when he was a youth and spent most of his life in Carroll and Starke counties. For 25 years, he was a familiar figure in state Republican conventions. and for several years was a member of the Indiana prison board.

Henry J. Link

Services for Henry J. Link, former Indianapolis resident,, will be held at 10:30 a. m. tomorrow at the Wald funeral home. Cremation will follow. Mr. Link died Saturday at his home in Lucedale, Miss. He was a native of Evansville and had heen in the sheet metal business since 1913. Mr. Link was a member of the Center Masonic lodge and served with the field artillery during the first world war, serving overseas for 18 months. Surviving are four brothers, Charles and William of Evansville, John and Edward of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mullin of Evansville and: Mrs. Tillie Travis of Indianapolis.

WILLIAM EDWARD HELMS, Indianapolis resident for 40 years, died yesterday at his home, 238 N. Pine st., after a two years illness. He was 74. Mr. Helms will be buried at Fortville following 10 a. m. services tomorrow at the Harry W. Moore peace chapel. - Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs, Maude Fab Westmont, Ill; a son, Roy of Des Moines, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Lydia Shipley of Lockland, O.

Mrs. Minnie M. Dudding ef Greenfield Was Active in Church, Clubs.

Mrs. Minnie M. Dudding, member of a pioneer Greenfield family, died last night at Methodist hospital. She was 74 and the widow of W. C. Dudding. Services and burial will be held at 3 p. m. tomorrow at Greenfield. Survivors are two nieces, Mrs. Edward Morford of Greenfield and Miss Elizabeth G. Bertermann of Indianapolis, and two nephews, John Bertermann II and William C. Bertermann, both of Indianapolis. Mrs. Dudding was a past matron of the O. E. S. and honorary patroness of Psi Iota Xi and of founder of the Greenfield Church of Christ, Scientist. She was president of the Greenfield Garden club, a member of the board of the Greenfield Cemetery association and a charter member of the Clio club. She served on the James Whitcomb Riley home restoration committee and was active in
