WASHINGTON, May 12.— The Nazis’ newest propaganda attack on the United States’ bustling production lines is a suggestion that the Americans should walk to work and save gasoline for “pleasure trips.” 2 The new device was reported in an analysis of Nazi broadcasts, recorded by the British moni service, which had detected increasing German alarm over the swelling output of the united nations. Currently, the analysis said, the Germans are endeavoring in every way possible to delay or check this

However, it was believed that a simultaneous Nazi drive might be launched on the northern shore of the sea of Azov, aimed at Rostov. If the Germans are able to cross the Kerch strait without delay and another drive pushes eastward to the north upon Rostov the southern Red armies of Marshal Semyon Timoshenko might be encircled.

on the central and northern fronts enable the Russians to seize the full initiative there, thus allowing him to throw his best troops and equipments in the effort in the south.
Hint Change in Tactics
Some allied reports indicated that Hitler intends to make an all-out effort against the Caucasus with 1,000,000 to 1,250,000 of his best troops, meanwhile attempting to hold his northern positions station- | ary with 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 men.' Significantly, it was pointed out! in London that the first reports from the Crimea suggested a change in German tactics, as had been predicted by allied military sources. There was no indication that Hitler again was attempting the blitzkrieg methods that were successful, in Europe, but failed on the vast! fronts of Russia. On the contrary, the Red army’s success in working out a technique to crush Nazi panzer attacks with heavy losses appeared to have forced Hitler to fall back on something like a modernized version of the German army methods in the first World war.
