WASHINGTON, May 8 (U. P.).— Income payments probably will rise above the $100,000000,000 mark in
H1942 for the firsi time in the history
of the United States, the department of commerce predicted today. March income payments totaled $8,654,000,000—a, figure which the ; said “implied” that payments for the year would reach $106,000,000,000. The March total was 21 per cent greater than that of March, 1941, and 8 per cent over the income of last month.

By UNITED PRESS Adolf Hitler deputized a brigade general of his vaunted storm troops as “police fuehrer” of occupied France today to suppress increasing terrorism and sabotage of the German war effort. With Reinnardt Heydrich, deputy chief of the gestapo, in France to install Gen. Oberg for the policing of the occupied territory, three more hostages were shot yesterday at Romorantin, which was an American army base in the last war. clock offensive of the Royal Air Force on Germany and occupied territory last night. ‘Aerial activity was restricted to patroling and mine laying. The bombless night was the first in more than a week and one of the few since early April. | Six German raiders attacked towns along tne South England coast, but caused little damage and no casualties. British night fighters challenged the invaders and shot down two. London outskirts had an alert but no planes appeared.
