Church Leaders to Meet ‘Tomorrow -and - Discuss

Vacation Program.

Looking toward the time when the public schools will be adjourned church school leaders will meet for their annual interdenominational vacation vacation Bible school institute tomMOrrow. The institute will begin at 9:30 a. m. and continue through the afternoon in the First Friends church. Workshop Featured

A workshop with teachers actully performing the handwork recommended for vacation school children is an institute feature. Projects which suggest Biblical times include oriental houses, tents, palm trees, scrolls, sheepfolds, and peep shows. E. T. Albertson, executive secretary of the Marion county Council of Christian education, institute sponsor, will preside.

Miss Mildred Hinshaw , host church religious education director, will lead the devotions. Mrs. John Methodist conference hildren’s work director, will conuct the workshop. Indiana Central Honors Students

Miss Hope Bean of. Laurel and James Miller of Crawfordsville have been voted the most outstanding woman and man on the Indiana Central college campus. William - Maddock of Liberty, freshman class president, has received a certificate award for being selected as the most outstanding member of his class. Selections were made by a fac-ulty-student committee following the Geneva stunt night. Choices were made according to scholastic records, leadership ability, character and general personality. Miss Bean is a member of the Philalethean literary society and of Alpha Psi Omega. Mr. Miller has been president of the student Christian association and is a member of the “C” association. He is also a distance runner on the college track team."

N. D. TRAINING OPENS FOR 1100 MAY 18

SOUTH BEND, Ind, May 1 (U. P.).—Capt. H. P. Burnett, commandant at the U. S. naval reserve training school at Notre Dame university, announced today that 1100 naval officers will arrive here May 18 for a five and one-nalf week training course. They will replace 900 V-7 trainees, half of whem will leave May 13 for the naval reserve midshipmen’s school at New York. The other haif will be sent to the naval reserve school at Northwestern university May 15. Capt. Burnett said the new contingent will come directly trom civil life, and will include ¢rdnance, engineering and deck volunteer specialists. On July 1, they will go on active duty.

Observe Music Week

In observance of national music week, the concert orchestra of Washington high school will present a program at the school auditorium Wednesday night. The program will include wellknown orchestra works and a modern presentation of an old-time melodrama with musical background. Coy Crank, Gordon Thompson, Marian: Everett and Rcbert C. Jones will have character parts in the performance, The melodrama is arranged by Kelvin Masson, orchestra director.
