John M. Smith Will Return||

To Camden; LeRoy Takes

Local Post.

John M. Smith, vice president in charge of the Indianapolis plant of the RCA Manufacturing Co. has been placed in charge of all manufacturing and production-engineer-ing activities of the company. Harry LeRoy, first manager of the plant here from 1936 to 1938 returned last night to take active charge of the East side plant. Mr. Smith's promotion was announced here by T. F. Joyce, vice president in charge of advertising and public relations at Camden, N. J, who was in Indianapolis yesterday for a conference of company executives and school officials in the Indianapolis Athletic club.

Bethany Graduate

A native of Ohio, Mr. Smith is a graduate of Bethany college and has been a member of the board

of trustees of the college since 1933. He was associated with the General Electric Co. at Cleveland, O., from 1914 to 1931. Mr. Smith was appointed manager of the radio tube division of the RCA at Harrison, N. J, in 1931. He served for seven years and during that time was elected vice president of the company. Taking charge of the Indianapolis plant in 1938, he became active in local and state affairs. He took an active part in industrial relations activities: of the. Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, was chairman of the transportation committee of the Indianapolis Chamber of

Commerce and was management adviser for the training with in industry of the regional war production board. Also chairman of the state advisory committee on sub-contract-ing of the WPB, he was a member of Woodstock Country club, the Indianapolis Athletic club and the Indianapolis Country club. He was an active supporter of the Indian-

apolis hockey team. Mr. Smith will leave for Camden

within a few days.

Mrs. Ruth L, Morris of Tipton, and Rep. Noble J. Johnson of Terre Haute, reigned over the Indiana grand chapter of the Order of Eastern Star today, following installation services last night. The installation closed the order’s, 68th annual two-day convention at Murat temple.
