The best way to fight fires in any new emergency is to have trained men who know just what to do. CD auxiliary firemen are now being trained to supplement our regular firefighting forces. If you want to be a part of a championship team, why not go to training with these men to learn what to do. A bit of training on your part may save a lot of trouble for your home and neighbors. The time to start is NOW!
80 MORE FACE FIRING SQUADS
New Group of Frenchmén Held as Hostages in
Train Wreck.
LONDON, April 23 (U. P). — Eighty French hostages are to die at dawn tomorrow before German firing squads, bringing to some 200 the number of innocents executed within the last week because other Frenchmen had committed acts of terrorism or sabotage. The 80 Frenchmen, the Germans announced, are to face firing squads unless the patriots who wrecked a

Twenty had been shot at St. Nazaire because Frenchmen aided British commandos in the recent raid on that submarine base. Thir-ty-five had been shot at Calais because others had engaged in acts of sabotage. In Paris, an unknown number of hostages had been shot because a German sentry had been killed and a bomb thrown at a German-occu-pied building April 2.

ganized schedules of shifts and work assignments, wil be worked round the clock, round the week, and round the month.”
Expects Interruptions
He explained that he was' mindful that interruptions would occur when - it was necessary for machines to close down at regular intervals for maintenance and repair; and as the war production program expanded interruptions might occur from shortages of materials, machines, parts and other supplies. “When interruptions occur,” he said, “the occasion should not be taken as an indication that it was wrong to have worked at full steam last week; and that there is no longer need to sustain interest and drive in the job.” “As materials are available they must be assembled for the fighting forces, for you will agree that three propellers today may be worth more than 10 or 12 next month.”
Ahead of Schedule
Mr. Harrison pointed out that without implication of complacency he could announce that production of war materials is reasonably abreast of schedules and in some instances ahead. However, he added: “I can assure you that is no complacency in the announcement and there will be none until complete victory is ours, and with it, lasting peace.” Put your heads, your hearts, your backs and your hands everlastingly into the day-to-day job, to stay in there pitching every hour of the day, night, Sunday and holiday, and use your skill, imagination, ingenuity and know-how to turn out the mostest of things in the short-

You are associated with an institution which is now manufacturing about a third of the propellers and a third of the engines for combat aircraft of the entire country.” “There is a desperate neede now for more and more of everything which you and your Curtiss-Wright associates manufacture.” In closing he charged the workers

U. S. TO PREVENT PRICE ADVANCES
Government to Freeze Cost Of All Commodities: Order Due Soon.
WASHINGTON; April 23 (U. P.). —Sometime before the end of this month you should be able to purchase virtually anything that is for sale without being told that the price has gone up.
Stabilized prices will replace the “going up” trend of recent months. The general price-freezing order to be announced Tuesday by the office of price administration will become effective almost immediately, probably on or before May 1, it was learned today. The order will, with a few exceptions, freeze retail, wholesale and factory prices of all commodities. One draft of the tentative order
effect next Wednesday. But officials said that would be changed to give retailers and others a few days to bring prices in line with their March quotations,
Freeze March Prices
The highest price charged in March will be the figure frozen by the OPA order. The order will be relatively brief. The permanent price regulation can be short because it blankets all prices except those specifically listed, an informed source said. The exceptions include only two major groups, both classifications of agricultural commodities. Farm products below the levels set in the 1942 price control act will be exempted. The only other important group exempted are commodities having such seasonability—green vegetiables and fresh fruits—that they could not be brought under effective price control without a tremendous enforcement machinery. Some other scattered products will be excluded. For example, gasoline will not be covered because it already is under OPA regulations.
Fix Maximum Ceiling
The four price levels written into the price control act by the congressional farm bloc provide for 110 per cent of parity, the "levels of Dec. 15, 1941, Oct. 1-15, 1041, and the average of farm prices from 1919 to 1929. Only the highest of these four may be used as a ceiling for farm prices. The present temporary price scherule on pork and dress hog products will, in general, serve as a model for handling other agricultural commodities. The OPA will assume no control over sales by the farmer but will pick up its control over quotations along the MNne, such as with the packer, in the case of hogs. While the OPA will not establish prices for farm sales, the order is expected to cover many products such as bread or dairy products which use agricultural supplies for ingredients. Officials believe that the spread in some commodities between the farmer and the consumer may be squeezed without any undue hardship. Where these conditions exist—and one OPA source indicated they were widespread— the agency will step in at the wholesale or retail level and freeze
