INSURANGE HEAD GIVES WARNING
Don’t Buy Policy From Company Unlicensed Here, He Asks.
Frank J. Viehmann, state insurance commissioner, today warned that a number of “questionable” insurance companies, not licensed in the state, are selling life, health and accident policies to Hoosiers. A person should, before he buys a policy, contact the state department to learn whether the insurance company is licensed by the | state, Mr. Viehmann said. The companies ai0t licensed, he pointed out, are not under the su-| pervision of the state department and ng assistance can be given by the state toward settlement of any dispute that might arise over the payment of a claim.
Agree on Joint Action
Most of the “questionable” companies, Mr. Viehmann said, are out of state concerns which are reaching the Hoosier public through various advertising mediums. He said that some of the companies did not “pay off” in accordance with the implications given in their sales material. Today's Rumor
This Times series is designed to help you. If you hear a rumor don't pass it on. Call us or write #s and we'll check it for you. If it's true, we'll tell you so. If not, we'll give vou the facts.
The Gossip Is . . . That men in the armed services will not be allowed to marry until two years after induction.
The Facts Are ...
That the army has no such regulations except in the case of West Point graduates. The navy may frown on marriage for men below a petty officer, second class rating, but except in the case of men working for commissions, they may marry and stay in the service if they are able to keep their private affairs in shape. In some cases in which a man is working toward a commission, he may not marry until a stipulated time after he receives his rank. A married man enlisting in the navy reserve as a seaman must obtain a waiver from dependents.
