PUPILS AT DAVIS COLLECT SCRAP
Everything From Clock Spring to Anvil Given To War Effort.

expected to go into rehearsal soon on a school play to raise funds for financing a portion of a canteen to be donated to the soldiers. The play will be “June Mad” and it will be directed by Miss Eleanor Dee Theek, dramatics teacher. Date of the play has not been announced, but the cast will be made up from all classes in the school. os 8 8
Field Day Plans
Al J. Kettler, journalism teacher at Shortridge, will attend the ninth annual Butler university journalism field day April 18 along with several Shortridge journalism pupils. Pupils who will attend are Evelyn Petersen, Joyce Dean, Ed Stephene son, Adda Jeanne Winterfeldt, Barbara Lee Smith, Harvey Harris and Frank Shellhorn, ” ” os Robert L. Mrs. Crockett Honroed
Mrs. W. P. Crockett, Shortridge matron, has been awarded the five star emblem of honor pin by the Emblem of Honor association of New York. The pin is in recognition of the services of the five Crockett boys who are in the armed forces. graduates, & Shortridge pupils taking part in the Indiana university statewide discussion league are Patricia Rudolph, William Lodwick, Oalvin Hamilton and Carolyn Jones. The discussion topic is to be “How Can My Community Make a Maximum Contribution to the War Effort.”
BOOK WEEK MARKED BY PUPILS AT HOWE
Marthana McWhir is chairman of the current Howe high school book week, dedicated to “patriotism and the truth.” The Howe library has received a donation of books and money to purchase books from the Irvington Union of Clubs and English classes have held special programs.
