PLAYERS NAMED FOR TECH REVUE

‘Sketchbook for 1942 to]

Be Presented by Pupils May 1.

Preliminary casting for “Sketchbook of 1942,” Technical high school revue scheduled for May 1, was announced today by C. S. Stewart and William Moon, directors. Chosen to date are: Betty Abbott, Catherine Middaw, Joan Richey, Marjorie Shinkle, Rose Hamilton, Gloria Cole, Betty Mercer and Clara Mae Masterson, singers; Frances A. Penny, twirler; Marjorie Kiewitt, drum soloist; Leo Joe Robas, accordionist. Robert Henley, marimbist; Arthur G. Baron, saxophonist; Doris and Helen Allison, double acrobatics; Roberta Buis, toe dancer; Betty J. Coffin and Wilmore Long, tap dancers; Marian Wiggin, contortionist; Bob Cullom, Victor Haboush and Dow Hickam, 13 Campus Conga Beauties, Lural Coryell and Winifred Freeman, comedy. The Sketchbook band will be composed of Louie Young, Betty Mills, Betty Jeane Scott and Shirley Williams. , Also to be cast in the revue are John Anderson, Marilyn Becker and Martha Light, Robert Schaub, June and Betty Tryon and Marilynn Mackey and company.

Led Tech Marksmen

Sergt. Warren Heistercamp led the Technical high school R. O. T. C. rifle team to victory over Shortfidge and Manual in the recent Hearst trophy match. Shortridge was second and Manual] third. Also on the Tech team were Capt. Edward Schilling, Corp. Fredrick Blankenhorn, Corp. Winston Churchill and Corp. Mario Santarossa. Senior arbor day festivities at Technical will be held next Wednesday in the gym. Seniors will be represented by Betty Alexander and the school by Principal Hanson H. Anderson. Following the ceremony the class will go to Liberty grove and plant three dogwood trees and five redbuds. The committee in charge includes Miss Alexander, Joan Cole, Joanne Kennedy, Robert Gastineau, Sarah Middleton, Phyllis Prentice, James Middleton and Edward Walford. They represent the eight senior roll rooms.

Hold Paper Sale Dance

Tech's service club will stage a “paper sale dance” tomorrow in the girl's gymnasium. Admission will be either by 10 complete newspapers or five magazines. Pupils are being urged to bring papers and deposit them in crates on the parking lots. 2 8 = z Technical high school will plant a “victory garden” on the campus as a model for pupils, who have been urged to plant one at home. Instructions in the planting and care of gardens will be posted each

James S. Adams, Native Hoosier, to Speak at 122d Anniversary.

Times Special BLOOMINGTON, Ind, April 10.— The observance of the 122d anniversary of the founding of Indiana

university will be held April 23 this year instead of the traditional May observance, President Herman B. Wells announced today. At the same time, Dr. Wells announced that James S. Adams, New York business executive and native Hoosier, will be the principal speaker for the celebration. The change in date has been made necessary because of the university’s war-accelerated program, Dr. Wells said. The program this year will include only the formal ceremonies, he added. Mr. Adams, a native of Brazil,

at the time of the United States’ entry into the last world war and left the campus for military service.

Sigma Nu to Initiate

Three Indiana university students from Indianapolis are included among the 15 who will be initiated into the golden anniversary class of Sigma Nu fraternity at services Tuesday in Bloomington. They are Wallace Dunn, William Eppley and Joseph Adkins. Sigma Nus from many parts of the country are expected to attend. Governor Schricker will be a special guest. Among the national officers who will attend are Lawrence Reedy, assistant general secretary and editor of The Delta, the fraternity’s publication, ard Malcolm Sewell, general secretary, both of Indianapolis.
