Joe Moore Clouts Two Homers
THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 1042
Indianapolis Redskins and the Mont
was tied four times and it required the Indians across. The final score was 11 to 10, giving the Redskins a sweep of the two-game series with the International league club. Outfielder Joe Moore, down from the New York Giants, led the Tribe sluggers with two home runs and six runs batted in. Stanley Rogers, second sacker, and Johnny Pasek, catcher, also belted the ball out of the park. As a matter of fact it was power batting that won the fracas for the Redskins. In addition to the four circuit wallops, the Indians also produced in the two-base department and their nine safeties accounted for 23 total bases.
Homer Follows Double
The Indians made short work of the issue in the tenth. Joe Bestudik opened with a double and Rogers followed with a home run, calling it an afternoon for the diamond gladiators. Manager Gabby Hartnett inserted himself as a pinch hitter in the ninth and delivered a timely double. As a result, the Great Gabby is leading the “league” with a percentage of 1.000—one time at bat and one hit. Joe Moore's first round-tripper came in the first inning with two mates on base and his second in the fifth, also with two mates aboard. Like on Tuesday, the Tribesters collected nine hits and they needed every blow to stay in the contest. It was the second time they were forced | to go extra innings in anj exhibition tilt. On Sunday the Bos- | ton Braves’ B team beat them, 3

Indians Grab Runfest From Montreal, Winning, 11 to 10
Times Special COCOA, Fla, March 26—In a ten-inning old-faghioned runfest, the
real Royals went around and around
here yestdfiay before the Hoosiers nailed down the verdict. For an exhibition game it was a pip for the bleacherites. The score
a two-run rally in the tenth to put
couldn’t hold it. The Indians tied it again at 10-all and then pushed another runner over the plate to end the hostilities. : Joe Bestudik had a bad day in the field at third base and booted four chances. Pilot Hartnett called time out today and ordered a vacation in camp. His Indians have been going through the paces seven days a week and he believes a holiday will do them good. They planned fishing trips and a round of golf. ‘The Tribe's roster was completed when Outfielder Jake Powell reported last night. After he rounds into shape the scramble for regular outfield posts will be under way. The other flychasers are Moore, Blackburn, Allen Hunt and Milton Galatzer. A sore arm is interfering with Galatger's batting and
fielding. 2

The National Professional Football league opens a three-day meeting today at which the game's part in the war effort will be one of the principal topics. * The league's rules committee held a pre-meeting session yesterday and submitted more than a score of changes for approval of the owners.
