following results today: “Find James Stewart. This was an assignment. If still is. We've been tracking this elusive star in the United States army since the friend of a friend who saw him told us. “Mr. Smith went to Washington, but where has James Stewart gone? : “Some gossip mongers say he’s in Melbourne. Others say he’s in Brisbane. Movie magnates insist that he presented the academy award to Gary Cooper in Hollywood a couple of weeks back. We've also heard he's in California and Hawaii. “By the way, we've just heard that Robert Taylor's in town, too.”

LONDON, March 21 (CDN) — Through the facilities of the British Broadcasting Corp., the oppressed peoples of Europe have this week received word of the staunch defense of Burma by the Chinese armies as well as the great naval battle of Java. In foreign language broadcasts to the occupied countries Leland Stowe’s stories of the Chinese army in Burma have been provided to “listeners in” in Nazi occupied Europe and George Weller’s brilliant tale, as told to him in his new vantage point somewhere in Australia, by participants in that epic battle of the Java sea, is being broadcast especially to the Dutch people by the Dutch government-in-exile in London.

BETTER PLUMBING GARE SUGGESTED
Because so many of the metals used in the manufacture of plumbing fixtures and fittings are vital to national defense, home owners as well as renters can help in this national emergency period by better care and maintenance of plumbing
systems. All faucet leaks should be fixed promptly. A neglected leak may cause permanent damage to the seat of the faucet, so that replacement of the entire unit may be necessary. The same prompt attention should be given to closet-tank leaks. Sink drains should be kept clean by pouring scalding water down the drain at least once a day. Lye should not be used, as it may take the finish off the fixture and clog the trap. When painting or decorating, all plumbing fixtures should be carefully covered to prevent spotting with paint and scratches by workmen, The temperature in domestic hotwater heating tanks should be kept as low as practical to check corrosion. Most important is to have all plumbing ‘ repair and maintenance work done without delay and by experienced workmen.

IMPRESSION BAD IF HOME NEEDS REPAIR
First impressions too often are lasting ones. A home with a cracked walkway,
unpainted and warped steps, or
weather-beaten door may be a model home inside, but unconsciously the average visitor recalls it being run-down and neglected.
