Red, white and blue sweaters chenilled with A to Z monograms will be evident everywhere. It’s Hoosierdom’s annual basket-
{ball party with four finalists bat-
tling for the state championship.
They'll Come From Everywhere From each corner of the state rahid high school fans will come to see Frankfort play Washington at 1:30 p. m. and Crawfordsville battle Burris of Muncie at 2:30 and the two winners meet that night at 8 o'clock for the crown. And some lucky boy, probably a member of the losing school tomorrow night will receive the coveted Gimbel award won by twenty-five boys since 1917 for outstanding performance and sportsmanship during the final tournament. None of this year's finalists have ever won that trophy. The Big Four are the choice of the state that once was 769 schools before the sectional play began Feb. 26. Frankifort’s chief weapon is a legend of invincibility as a tournament team. And its coach, Everett Case is part of that legend. If his team wins again he will become the first man to coach five state championships. Washington’s Hatchets are the defending champions and the team to beat. Their combined usage of fast break and set plays have given them 28 victories this year; the largest winning streak of the final four. Crawfordsville’s Athenians are the tournament dark horse. They have won 17 and lost nine but they are sizzling now and with Don Swarat, their big center, on the beam they will cause Burris trouble.
The Owls Hoot
The Owls of Muncie Burris are hooting jubilantly. They have the tallest team in the finals and one of the best ball handlers in Kenneth Brown. ‘Scott Fisher, the coach, says Brown is one of the best high school players he has ever coached. A natural. The first five of Lowell Black, Clay Moody, Brown, Gene Lillie
and Harold Salyer all tower above

Yes, it's the 32d state high school basketball finals tomorrow after-
noon and night at the Butler fieldhouse. Thousands of out-of-town fans will swell the city’s population,

Crawfordsville,| Frankfort and Muncie are all within a short radius of Indianapolis. But they are the select. They waded through the pre-tourney favorites. Last year the final game was played between two southern schools Washington and Madison. This year the Washingtons have three against them. 3 to 1 odds say they'll win.
