Mrs. Evgenia Shorrock and one of her greatest admirers, Maggie,
Shorrock kept them in her room at a downtown hotel,
Hotel Help Shuns Room “I had them in suitcases and in sacks and boxes,” she said. “I thought they were hidden all right, but the bellboys and the maids somehow found out about my snakes. The result was that I couldn’t get anyone to make my bed or even to bring anything into my oom,”
The long and the short of the reptile collection brought to .the Sportsmen's show are a gopher snake, about 10 feet from eyes to tail, and a baby boa constrictor, 10 inches in length. The gopher snake is non-poisonous and it has bitten Mrs. Shorrock several times, but she. praises it as “the Florida farmer’s best friend.” The snakes are on the road two months of the year. During the other 10 months, they share: the 10-room Shorrock home in Boston. The snakes occupy the third floor, Mr. and Mrs. Shorrock and their pet monkeys live on the first and second floors, and the basement is devoted to the raising of mice, rats and guinea " pigs—food for the snakes.
Keeps Husband ‘Company’
Mr. Shorrock is holding down the fort alone during his wife’s absence. She left. behind two excellent reminders of her most exciting hobby: One is a cobra, pickled in a huge glass jar; the other is a live female python, 15 feet long. ; Mrs. Shorrock . feels that the python provides the womanly touch while she is away from home, “The python, you know, is the only snake which displays the maternal instinct,” she explains,
