According to losses given in R. A, F. communiques, the British have lost 89 bombers from Feb. 1 through March 13, the last night when raids were carried out and 38 fighters. Twenty-six bombers} were. lost during. the battle over the channel at the time the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau escaped (six Swordfish of the fleet air arm are counted here as bombers). From the same sources the Germans lost over the continent 18] bombers and 48 fighters. This does not include German bombers brought down over Britain which would add half-a-dozen to the list. “The schedule of raids shows that the R. A. F. stayed at home only gix days during the last 43 and these presumably because of weather. Aside from routine channel sweeps and patrols over the North sea, fighters and bombers have attacked German airdromes in France, Belgium, Holland and Le Havre and Dunkirk.
