There are almost two months to go before conditions of climate begin to approach those existing when Hitler started his invasion last June 22. The Russians have forged slowly ahead and at one point, northwest of Vitebsk, are 300 miles beyond the farthest point of the German advance north of Moscow. The Germans apparently are nowhere near the point where a defensive can be turned to an offensive. 1 Before Hitler can turn, the Russians hope to have cleared the Leningrad area completely, and ‘to have that big industrial city back to full war production. They aim to reach the borders of Esthonia and Latvia. Russia no Plisiiones In. cen the. CHICAGO, March 4 (U. The proposals were indorsed by the A..B. A. house of delegates in approving a report of its committee on labor, employment and social security. The committee cited Mr. Rosevelt’s appeal for continuous production in his Feb. 23 address and recommended: Loss of occupational draft deferments for workers who strike in war industries.

HINT COMPROMISE

IN FARM PRIGE FIGHT)

WASHINGTON, March 4 (U. P.). —Possibility of a compromise in the administration-congressional farm bloc fight over price control was suggested today coincident with a reported warning by Secretary of Agriculture Claude R. Wickard to farm groups that in their own interests they should not press price demands too far.

The compromise plan was report- .

ed by a house agriculture committee member who said he had found other farm members receptive. It was advanced as the house moved into its second day of debate on the near-$700,000,000 agriculture

supply bill which contains a con-|W

troversial provision designed to prevent the commodity credit corporation from gelling surplus farm stocks at less than parity. The compromise proposal was understood to contemplate permitting the corporation to sell excess corn and wheat stocks at less than parity for farm stock feeding purposes only, with retention of the prohibition against any below-par-ity sales of surplus cotton, tobacco and rice.
