Production Soars
BRIDGEPORT, Conn, Feb. 25 (U. P.).—Remington Arms, Inc, during 1941 changed over from production of sporting guns and ammunition to war work for the fifth time in its 125-year history, and the annual report issued to stockholders today disclosed that the war boom lifted its sales 190 per cent, its profits more than 87 per (ent and its direct tax payments more than 520 per cent. The company, controlled by E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., report ed net sales of $62,627,282 for 1941, an increase of approximately $39,000,000 over 1940. Net earnings for the year were placed at $3,058,839 or 38 cents a common share against $1,945,663 or 23 cents a share in 1940, while direct taxes amounted to $14,858,000, an increase of about $12,458,000. President C. K. Davis asserted that Remington Arms will produce more small arms ammunition in a single year than was produced by all domestic manufacturers in the four ‘years of the last world war.

GRAIN FUTURES DIP ON BOARD OF TRADE
CHICAGO, Feb. 25 (U. P.). — Grain futures displayed an easier trend in quiet, early dealings on the Board of Trade today. At the end of the first hour wheat was off % to 3% cent a bushel; corn off 3% to %; oats unchanged to off 14: rye off % to %; and soybeans off % to %. Easiness in cotton and soybean futures brought out scattered offerings in all grain pits at the opening. Boybeans fell as much as 2 cents a bushel under selling that caught a few closely placed professional traders.

NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (U. P).— Net sales of General Foods Corp. rose to a record level during 1941 Yalbut an increase of more than 100 per cent in tax provisions reduced profits for the year, C. M. Chester, chairman of the board, reported today. Net income for 1941 was report ed at $14,153,400, equal after preferred dividend requirements to $2.56 a common share, compared with $15,244,077, or $2.77 a share, in 1940, Mr. Chester sald that the company’s reserve for contingencies was increased by a provision of $1,500,000 out of 1841 earnings largely in reflection of increased war risks,
