Here is a con sideration of the leading radio dramas of today one at a time.
Radio Theater—This is the pro. gram that opened the way for the present radio drama and it has led the World-Telegram poll ever since ‘it was launched. on South Bend Fails Alert Test
SOUTH BEND, Ind, Feb. 23 (U. P.).—South Bend has been charged with being “not on the alert” by Lloya Bond, a federal consulting radio engineer, who made a personal attempt to arouse the inert suspicion of the area. To test the directional ray of radio station WSBI, soon to enlarge its frequency, he set up his '| machinery at the heavily-guarded airport, scene of a recent $35,000 fire; at Bendix Aviation Corp, turning out $13,000,000 in war orders; at Studebaker Corp., engaged in defense production, and at the Singer Sewing Machine Co., only one-half mile from the Kingsbury erdnance plant, near La Porte. His actions went unnoticed. In similar tests at Weehawken, N. J., he was nabbed on suspicion.

Victims of recent holdups were to file through city morgue today to determine if a negro bandit killed ‘by detectives Saturday night was the gunman who robbed them. Willis Burris of 810 Drake st., wsa shot by Detectives Oren Mangus and Ralph Chambers who saw him robbing Orville Drake in his grocery at 1003 N. West st. The officers said they saw Burris ‘acting suspiciously outside the store. ‘They saw him énter and through ‘the window they witnessed Mr. Drake raising his hands. One of the detéctives entered the store with a sawed-off shotgun and ithe other carried a revolver. When ithe bandit saw them, he fired point blank and missed. He fired twice more as he ran ugh the door, but he fell dead se feral yards from the store, having shot by both detectives.
