Big Ten Divides Info 'Haves"
And 'Have Nots,' With Indiana In 'Win or Else’
Wildcats, Gophers Meet, In Big Game Tonight
The Big Ten basketball race was divided into the “haves” and the “have nots” today with additional fast breaks developments planned for this evening. The “have a victory” teams were Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern and JYowa. Indiana and Wisconsin were not listed in the “win column” but the defending champion Badgers and the runnerup Hoosiers were not discounted. One of the two was sure to enter the good side tonight when they tangle at Bloomington. Originally booked as a early race test of Conference power the game was changed now into a victory-or-else-battle, A | team might not be able to off-set two straight losses in this loop. The big game of this evening matches unbeaten Minnesota and sophomore-studded Northwestern. The Irish of Notre Dame can brag| of Wildcat victory but they are alone in that class. Indiana lost to them Saturday night, 50 to 40. All the members of Purdue’ hoopla circus loafed and looped through seldom-scoring Chicago, 84 to 19. Minnesota kept up its 50points a game average by swamping | Ohio State, 56 to 42, while Towa handed Michigan a defeat, 40 to 34. Illinois became a team to watch along side Minnesota and Northwestern by toppling the Badgers, 55 to 40. The sophomores appeared to be; taking up in basketball right where © they left off in football—as the big shots. Northwestern's O t t © Graham proved his metal against Indiana by | one-handing 15 points in the second | half for the Wildeats while Illinois had four second-year men in her line-up that beat the Badgers. The loss of Capt. Andy Zimmer in the last half by the foul route hurt the Hoosiers. They had battled evenly in the first period with a 20 to 19 half-time score favoring the Wildcats. But as Graham went up so Zimmer went out.

Butler Fifth On Gobs’ List
The greats of the Great Lakes Naval Training School, it appears, are the Midwest's finest exponent of the balli-in-the-hoop play. Their now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t passing has a careless disregard for narfes and defenses that come only to the professional. They turn the pressure on and off like a “coach's dream,” going when they have to and loafing when it is convenient. The best that Indiana can offer its colleges and universities have “pushed” but never frightened the Middies.
Butler Is No. §
Butler was No. 5 on their Hoosier ‘hit parade.” The score was 51 to 40 and the Butlers played good ball. The Bulldogs like everyone else was awed by the names and ball-hand-ling for the first half. But they rallied to outscore the Sailors in the second period. Big Dick Klein, a Northwestern gift to the Navy, was the chief sailor point getter in Saturday night's game at the Field House. He turned in 17 which is exactly the number
