Fields Bowls ‘300° Game
Paul Fields got his first “300” game last night at the Sport Bowl. Rolling on the Vernor's Ginger Ale team in the South Side Businessmen's League, Fields knocked off a 2068 game, then threw a masterful perfect game and finished strong with a 212 for a total of 718. In making the perfect score, Fields laid seven straight balls into the pocket. No. 8 went to the Brooklyn side but was strong enough to knock down the pins. The ninth roll also was on the Brooklyn side, but the last three

Waltzing Is Bunch of 3s
By MEGAN TAYLOR World's Champion Figure Skater "MOST ESSENTIAL part of waltzing is to skate in time with music. The gentleman takes the lady by her left hand, skates a few steps forward. The lady turns her 3, holding the tail of the 3—the back edge— a few seconds, while the gentleman strikes out on his left forward outside edge. He holds this until the lady has put her foot down close beside the skating foot on the right outside back edge. ns n »
HER LEFT FOOT now swings back while the gentleman's right free leg swings forward with his
663 partner,
While the lady puts her foot dewn beside the other to take off on her left outside back, the gentleman turns his 3, holding the tail of the 3 a few seconds (like the lady) before putting his free leg down beside the skating foot onto his left outside back. The lady turns forward as the man puts his foot on the back edge to take her forward stride to her next 3 turn. = = o THE LADY DOES two back edges while her partner does two forward edges after each has done a turn. Both bend the knee as they approach the 3 turn, raise at the turn and lower on to the back edges, and, of course, turn with music. After the lady's free leg has been swung back and the man's forward past the skating leg, both should allow the free foot to drop back naturally beside the skating foot before changing feet.

Adam Brown
Go to Chicago After Game With Buffalo
Lightning has struck the Indianapolis Capitals’ camp again. This time it’s Joe Carveth and the sensational rookie of last year, Adam Brown, who are leaving the local hockey club to go to the Detroit Red Wings, the floundering “farm cluk” in the big city. In return, the Caps will get Bill Jennings, former star at the Coliseum, and Bob Whitelaw, who played defense with the Capitals.
Our 'Agreement’
Indianapolis Capitals officials in pre-season hockey talks promised the local press and fans that a working agreement, signed by Arthur Wirts, Coliseum president, would be made with the Detroit Red Wings. The agreement, never signed, would work to the benefit of both clubs, shuttling four men back and forth without ene dangering more than one line. These four men were to be named to local fans to acquaint them with the situation at all times. Today's trade breaks up the Caps two top lines. Carveth leaves the Keating-Douglas-Carveth combination. Adam Brown leaves the Fisher-C. Brown-A. Brown line after it had just started to click. (B.F.)
Buck Jones, popular defense man, who was sent to the Red Wings earlier in the season, will stay at Detroit for the present time. “It isn’t as bad as it might look to some of the fans,” Herbie Lewis, Caps’ manager, said today. “After all, we are getting two good men back here. “It's a mighty hard proposition to refuse boys like Carveth and Brown, both of whom are going great down here, a chance in the big leagues. They should have an opportunity at the bigger money and the prestige that goes with playing with a big league club.” Lewis pointed out that the connection the Caps have with the Red Wings works to the advantage of the local club, even though at times good men are lost. “If we didn't have this connection,” he said, “we might lose men and never get the proper replacements.” He said the Caps had never been without a full team and a “good working club,” something that other minor league clubs were faced with many times, The move was made, Lewis said,
|to get a “peek” at these two men,
both of whom are owned by the Detroit Club, and to try to get a line together that would score for the Detroit Club. “They certainly aren't going very good, up there,” he said. “They're fighting to get a winning combination. Brown Going Good “It’s entirely possible that by shifting players around, both the Caps and the Red Wings can find scoring combinations. We may lose some men, but find others who didn’t go at Detroit will go here.” Brown and Carveth will play at the Coliseum tomorrow night and then join the Red Wings in Chicago Thursday. Jennings is en route to Indianapolis now, and Whitelaw will be here shortly. Brown has been going like a house-a-fire with the Caps since coming up from Omaha last year. He is second in league scoring, with 11 goals and 19 assists for a total of 30 points. Carveth, the solemn, dark, flashy wing, who works hardest when the chips are down, is eighth araong the league scorers, with 8 goals and 17 assists, for a total of 25 points. Detroit has only six wins and two ties in Najional League hockey this year. They have played 19 games.
How Is Your Basket Eye?
To men and women 30 years or older: The WPA is offering you a chance to be a basketball champion. It is a free throw tournament and the idea behind it is to give you a chance to learn how hard it is to hit fouls, to foster better sportsmanship among. net fans and to give you a recreational tournament of your own. The tournament is open only to men and women 30 years or older and competition will be held in county contests. All county tournaments must be finished by Jan, 29. District eliminations will be held Feb. 26 with the state on March 12. Champions will be named in the men, women and mixed double fields. Participants will shoot five free throws of five rounds each on two evenings. No traveling expenses will be necessary as all plays will be held in local gyms. The results will be tallied by WPA recreation officials at Indianapolis. The rules are the same as in the official handbook,
