‘Blackout’ Here; |
Sun's to Blame '-
THE WEATHER Bureau today | "“divalged” information about a | “blackout” In Indianapolis. Meteorologist J. H. Armington warned that the sun, which rose at 7:04 a. m, will set a few seconds after 4:23 p. m. Yesterday, the sun performed |
the same way. Thus, yesterday and today, are the shortest days | of 1941. Tomorrow “the blackout” will be of about the same duration. The sun will rise at | 7:05 a. m. and set at 4:24 p. m. The minimum temperature toGay was 83 at Sa. m. Mr. Armington suggested that if the Germans have any complaint about Indianapolis being warmer than Russia, or the Italfans objecting to it being colder than Libya, or the Japanese wanting it to be as sunny as Luzon— Well, if they don't like our weather, Mr. Armington says the Axis agitators can go hang.

Widow of Slain Man Is Mother
A DAUGHER was born to Mrs. LuRayné Oberholtzger Mattingly last Friday at Methodist Hospital. Mother and baby were reported “doing fine” today. Mrs. Mattingly is the widow of Charles O. Mattingly, Public Servfce Commission examiner, who was shot fatally last July at Bloomington while visiting with friends. A former Bloomington newspaper executive, 43-year-old Mrs. Caroline Payne, is charged with the slaying and is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 19 in Monroe Circuit Court. The trial was delayed so that Mrs. Mattingly, the Raves chief withess, might testify.
