Navy Recruiting Office Is Willing to Delay Actual Duty.

Officials at the Navy Recruiting Station in the Federal Building said

‘today that men who want to enlist

but who do not want to go on active duty until after Christmas may do so. : Comm. R. H G. Mathews, U. 8 N. R, officer in charge of recruit-

ing in the Indiana Area, said that

many men are not enlisting because of the coming holiday period. He said that officials will complete the preliminary papers and physical examinations of those who prefer to delay their departure. After the holiday, the men will be sent to the U. S. Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill

6 Assigned to Duty

Six Indiana men have been assigned to duty at the U. S, Naval Training Station at the Naval Armory here, according to Lieut. Comm. Boyd Phelps, U. S. N. R, commanding officer of the school. They are Robert M. Caresky, 3042 Central Ave.; Harold Roy Howard, 5703 E. 21st St.; Elmo Lee Stough, Ft. Wayne; Carl Frederick Hooten. Logansport; John Tripcony, Columbia City, and Stephen A. Wojcik, Gary. They will take a four months’ gourse to train as radio operators.

ITALIAN PRINCE ENDS SPECIAL U. S. VISIT

NEW YORK, Dec. 19 (U. P)— Prince Alessandro Torlonia, who obtained special permission a month ago from three governments two of them already at war, to visit his ailing mother in this country, has gone back to Italy, it was learned yesterday. His visa had expired.
