Dr. Andrew W. Cordier, head of history and political science department at Manchester College, will address the Kiwanis Club luncheon here Wednesday noon. Dr. Cordier, widely known author and lecturer, will speak on “Our South American Neighbors” at the meeting in the Columbia Club. He recently flew 7000 miles in South America visiting countries there and talking to political and civic leaders.

Registration and business sessions occupied most of the morning meeting which was followed by an informal luncheon in the Riley Room where the engineers were welcomed by City and State officials. : “Construction for Defense” was to be the first major discussion topic for this afternoon session. Lieut. Col. Henry Hutchins Jr., U. S. District Engineer at Louisville, was to lead discussion.

The second afternoon topic was “The Engineering Profession and the National Emergency,” a discussion to be led by Prof. Harry E. Nold of Ohio State University. Feature speaker at tonight’s dinner in the Riley Room of the Claypool will be Maj. Francis J. Wilson, Office of Chief of -U. S. Engineers at Washington, whose topic will be “Air Raids and Protective Construction.”

Two Will Be Honored

Two veteran Hoosier engineers will be honored at the dinner with certificates of life 'membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers. They are H. S. Morse, Indianapolis Water Co. manager; and C. A. Ellis, Purdue University Engineering professor. The two day convention will end tomorrow with technical sessions.
