Takes Carmelite Vows on Monday

Miss Mary Vollmuth, who has been a -résident of the Carmelite Monastery, Cold Spring Road, for five years, now has completed her period of probation and will take the final vows of the Carmelite Monday. ~ Just after™ the monastery was built five years ago, |] iss. Vollmuth was invested as Sister Joan of the Cross in the first clothing ceremony of the new building. Temporary vows. were ‘pronounced then, but Monday's will be binding for life. - Sister Joan is from Terre Haute and the first native of Indiana to take final Carmelite vows in the monastery. The Most Rev. Joseph E. Ritter, bishop of the Diocese of Indianapolis, will celebrate mass in the monastery chapel Monday at 9 a. m. and present Sister Joan the black . veil of the professed” choir nun of Carmel. Early Monday morning, Sister Joan will take her vows in a private ceremony with only the prioress and her fellow sisters present. The newly professed sister will receive friends and visitors for three .days, Monday, Tuesday and Sunday, Nov. 30, at the monastery and then be coilstered for the rest of her life. Bishop Ritter will be assisted by the Rev. Fr. William V. Boland of Bedford, an uncle of Sister Joan, and her brother, the Rev. Fr. William E. Vollmuth, who will be ordained a priest in the spring. Mr. George J. Vollmuth and Mrs. Vollmuth, her Fares, and other relftives will be present at the ceremony.
