10 SERVICE MEN

Some Hosts Disa ppointed “When Expected Guests + Fail to Arrive. Despite some confusion: resulting from last-minute changes in sched- . ules and errors in transportation timing, about 1000 soldiers, sailors and marines stationed here ate their Thanksgiving dinners in In--disnapolis private homes. “The entertainment was arranged by - the Army, Navy and Marine Service Men’s Club and for most of the hundreds of Indianapolis hosts and soldiers the day was a success. However, some families and soldiers were disappointed when turkey dinners went cold waiting for an Army or Navy guest who was late or never got there, Look Ahead to Christmas

- Service Club officials explained that: 1. Faulty bus schedules resulted in the late arrival of some guests from Ft. Harrison. 2. Some service men who hadn't expected them got home leaves and didn’t have time to notify the Serv-

ice Club before departing. 3. Some of the service men didn’t know Indianapolis well and got confused on street car and bus locations and destinations. Otherwise everything went off smoothly and a good time was had by all. So good, in fact, that sponsors and turkey eaters alike now are looking forward to Christmas.

The metal was terribly cold. “I had some credentials in my pockets but I was afraid to reach for them and I was afraid I would be shot if I couldn't convince them I was all right.
