Wouldn’t your mother love more than anything else, a chamoiscolored kit for the family silver, that you've stitched up with your own busy fingers? It’s made quick-

ly and easily from g large square of

chamois cotton flannel, the size to be determined by the amount of flat silver. You merely pink the edges of the square piece of fabric in jig time with the pinker attachment. Fold over one end of the square about one-third of the way, mark off in pencil equal divisions to make individual pockets for knives, forks, “spoons, and so on, and run a single row of stitching along each line. After this is done, the unfolded top of the “square above the pockets forms an envelope

flap. Tack two tape streamers on

one side of the kit to tie the bag together. after. the -silver has been inserted, then turn the flap down and. close the bag in rolled fashion. # J ” :

ANOTHER GIFT that will |be universally liked is a tea or kitchen

| apron made of inexpensive diag-

onally - rainbow-striped cotton. It’s different because the cotton fabric is cut into narrow vertical gores, stitched together and arranged in a chevron striped design. The inside seam edges are quickly finished off in expert fashion with the pinker attachment. The hem of the

apron has the same V-shaped,|

chevron scalloped edge. To help carry out this theme, a wide waistband with sash-tied ends is- tapered to an inverted V-shaped point| at the center-front top. Rick-rack trimming edges the pocket, waistband and apron hem and is applied in a jiffy with the zigzagger
