WEATHERFORD, Tex, Nov. 5|| P) ~-A tempest stirred today in

the: “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” girl named her infant daughter

. Miss Martin grew up here and taught dancing until she left for Broadway and stardom and wken her daughter was .born yesterday . She announced immediately that she and husband Richard Halliday would name her “Heller” because |. “that’s what folks in Weatherford ~ call a particularly pert and viva- - cious girl.” ~~ But the unanimous—and anonymous—consensus here was: “Why I-never heard the likes of ‘that. Little girls aren't _called - Heller in Weatherford.” The Tuesday Bridge Club and the - Ladies’ Aid Society members did not “want to be quoted because, they all . paid, they knew Mary too well and ; Hey didn’t want to hurt her feel“nga. “But—" 1. “A name like that might do in Hollywood but never in Weatherford. We're too conservative and oo conventional.” “Mary was a well-mannered So obiid, certainly not a little devil and I don’t know where she could have gotten an idea like that.” : 3. “I think it’s not a very nice name for a girl to have.” <4, (It's _probably just one of ~ Mary's passing whims. When the baby is christened, I'll bet it will be as Mary and not as Heller.” ~~ Heller Halliday, (7 | pounds 13 ounces, and mother were reported to be doing fine today.

“Lady Be Good,” is the picturization of the 1924 Broadway show that had everything—music by George Gershwin, lyriés by his brother Ira, and the dancing Astaires, Fred and Adele. Of this, Hollywood has salvaged only two of the Gershwin tunes:

The title song and “Fascinating Rhythm.” [The story is one of the longest and dullést in many a cinema season, but in a musical the important things are fine individual performers and sparkling music. With these - “Lady Be Good” overflows. There’s Eleanor Powell, the superb tap (dancer; Red Skelton, who even is funny when his material is not; the Berry Brothers who dance off in all directions at once; the dead-pan singing: of frightened Virginia O’Brien; and the sweet nostalgia of Gershwin songs, It’s on foday through Saturday at the Uptown; tomorrow through Sunday af the Rivoli; Sunday through. Tuesday at the Belmont, St. Clair, ISpeedway and Strand. “Sun ‘Valley Serenade’ is a smart bit of showmanship in that the producers realized”that Sonja Henie fans have tired ‘a bit of seeing Sonja skate. Instead she. plays a [Norwegian refugee, slimmed somewhat, who skis. There is plenty of slaloming at Sun Valley, the. brassy effects of Glen Miller’s orchestra, the buffoonery of Milton Berle, and the bubbling | Nicholas Bros., who dance the shoes off “Chattanooga Choo Choo.” For the skating fans there, too, is one performance of Sonja and her ballet in pure white costumes swishing over jet black ice. It’s on today - through Saturday at the St. Clair and Strand, today through next Tuesday at: the Granada, tomorrow through Sunday |at the Irving, through | Tuesday at the Uptown. ® 2 8 Joe Armantrout is the new house manager at the Vogue, réplacing Forest Quinn who resigned to go with RCA. g 8 = THE TALBOTT next- week begins a new policy of two shows weekly, | opening on Wednesdays and Saturdays. To straighten out’ its schedule the Talbott will show “Dive Bomber” and “When Ladies Meet” for five days beginning Friday. Tonight and tomorrow Manager John Kellams is bringing ‘back “Kit Carson” (Jon Hall), based on the life of one of America’s boldest adventurers. Second feature is “For Beauty's Sake.” » FOR THE PARKER family nights the pictures include a return coasgement of “Brother Orchid” (Edward G. Robinson, Humphrey Bogart, Ann Sothern), along | with | a Charles Starrett Western, “Outlaw of Panhandle.” ” ” 2 THE PARAMOUNT RETURNS for one night only tonight Bob Hope’s hilarious “The Cat and the Canary,” which stars Paulette Goddard. Completing the bill is a chapter of the “Riders of Death Valley” serial, a color cartoon and a novelty short. : » tJ 2 THE SHERIDAN tomorrow through Saturday has a return showing of “20,000 Men a Year,” the picturization of the Govern-
