Versahge reprimanded Private Clarence Bauer for a minor infraction of the rules. When Bauer came home for the week-end he told his parents about thé incident and finished *“. . . Times Special Washington, Oct. 27.—El. Lilly & Co., Indianapolis, has been awarded a $13, 800 contract for drugs for the Army Medical Department it was announced today. The Ordnance Department announced a $3303,49 contract for machine tools awarded to the South Bend Lathe Works, South Bend, and the Corps .of $4535.05 contract to the Carey Mas chinery & Supply Co., for lathes to
be made at South Bend.

Letters to Townsend Club Members Outline His Work in Capital.
Times Special WASHINGTON, Oct. 27—Rep. Gerald W. Landis (R. Ind) has been busy this week sending out a form letter (not franked) to Towne send Club members in the Seventh Congressional Djstrict. The letter reads: “Fellow American: Due to the trying times and legislative duties it has been impossible for me to spend very much time back home. In order to give you some idea of what I have done in behalf of the Townsend . National Recovery Plan during the past year, IT am happy to submit the following: : “1. I am a member of the Townsend National Steering Committee and have attended every committee meeting called by the chairman, “2. 1 was influential in getting the Townsend plan presénted before our bipartisan Unemployment Committee of the House, of which the Hon. Jeity Voorhis of California is the chairman. “3, I appeared and debated the gross income tax before a group of economists here in Washington, Included in this group of economists was the economic adviser of the Natiohal Recovery Plan. “4, I contacted Dr. George Gallup and gave him my suggested questions to be asked throughout the country with reference to old-age assistance. Some of my questions were used in the poll. “5. I spoke before a State Townin Indianapolis and
visit home. “g. I helped organize the Indiana Townsend Plan Steering Committee in order to get more petition signatures from our State. “7. I signed the Townsend discharge petition’ and have worked diligently to influence other members of the House to do likewise. “8. I have made speeches on the floor of the House for the plan. “9. I have written President Roosevelt requesting his support of legislation designed in behalf of America's elderly citizens.
