Special activities have been scheduled in Indiangpolis throughout the week in observance of National Hearing Week which formally opened Saturday. The slogan for the week is “Defend: Hearing.” The week’s program started Saturday with a program over WISH, conducted by Mrs. George B. Katzenberger, pioneer in Indiana and State chairma#$i of the American Society for the Hard of Hear-
ing. : Next Saturday morning, Louis Shelton, vice president of the Indianapolis Society for the Hard of Hearing, will talk to the Society on the development and purposes of the local organization.
Classes Open to Public
Tonight the public is invited to the weekly lip-reading classes held by the Society at 318-319 Board of Trade Building. Hostesses for tonight's meeting are Mrs. A. W. Brayton’ Jr, Mrs. Louis Shelton, Miss J. P. Shaw, Mrs. Irma Chopson, Mrs. Elizabeth Hancock, Miss Doris Lynn and Mrs. Helen Rich. The climaxing activity of the week will be a card party at 3 p. m. Saturday at the Wm. H. Block Co. auditorium. The party will be sponsored by the Women’s Club of the Indianapolis Society. A Christian Unity Conference will be held at the Roberts Park Methodist Church Sunday and Monday, Nov. 2 and 3 by the Comity Committee of the Church Federation of Indianapolis. Dr, Ellis W. Hay, pastor of the First Congregational Church, is chairman of the committee, which also plans for a Service of Ecumenical Worship at the Roberts Park Church at 3:30 p. m., Nov. 2. The address of the afternoon will be delivered by Dr. Adolf Keller, Geneva, Switzerland, executive secretary of the World ' Council of Churches.
