Minnesota Leads Times Football Rating; Purdue Is Shaded by Ohio State

Times Special Writer
Minnesota, mighty monster of
‘top of The Indianapolis Times’ Football Ratings this week by vir-|
the Mid West, moved back to the
fue of its smashing victory over a good Illinois team last Saturday. Duke, Texas, Northwestern, Michigan, Notre Dame and Fordham follow in that order as the six best of the week. The ratings have been presented this time in straight numerical form instead of by alphabetical designation. Thus, Minnesota is 946 instead of A-46: Indiana becomes 850 instead of B-50, Butler becomes
524 instead of E-24. With three games to work against the ratings have become remarkably accurate. In other words, the * team with the higher rating last week won in a high percentage of games played. Ohio State’s rating this week is 022 compared to 888 for Purdue. Nebraska is rated 914. Notre Dame, at 934, is matched against C ech at 521. DePauw's rating - is 472 "Northwestern and Michigan, opponents in this week’s No. 1 game, are about equal in the ratings, the ildeats al 941, the Wolverines at

Coaches Propose
“Two proposed changs—that high school athletes be required to get a physician’s certificate only - once during a year, and that ineligibility for post-season competition be limited to the sport 4n. which the violation occurs—had been adopted |to by the Marion County Coaches As~ sociation todav. The proposals will: be given to the I. H. 8. A. 4. board of control for consideration at its next meet-
ing. Under the present rules, a high schoo} athlete must obtain a doc< tor’s certificate for each sport in which he participates Also ‘under present regulations, post-season competition in any sport automatically disbars an athe lete from further activity in any sport. Thus, boys playing- basketball after the season closed were. kept from playing football the following year. ; The coaches also. approved the present 20-year age limit and voted| unanimously against admission of either Negro or private schools $0].
