David Bernstein, treasurer and Vice president of Loew's, testified that Mr. Schenck had described to him Bioff’s alleged demands in 1936. He ‘said Mr. Schenck had asked for $50,000 cash, and he had Mr. Bernstein take it from a bank .vault and turn it over to Mr, Schenck. To keep how the money was used off the records,” Mr. Bernstein said he persuaded executives of Loew's to pad their expense vouchers.
