The trio looked so good that the Wings took them up-to Detroit, But again ‘a bro leg. halted Carveth’s play. * Wilder is up again with Detroit but Les and Joe are ready to go for the Taps. Manager Lewis has 16 ren on the ice at the Coliseum now and may get more if Gus Giesebrecht is able to play for the Wings and a few border troubles are straightened out. Team to Win at Highland
Bill Heinlein,' the “Leaning Sycamore” of Noblesville, led his team of three amateurs to a best-ball victory of 66 and a prize of $103 yesterday in a pro-am at Highland Country Club. .. 'The tournament attracted 104 players, who competed .for five prizes and paid tribute to Charley Higgs, former Kokomo Country Club
professional, who was host. Heinlein's team included George Denny and Bob Laycock of Indian-, apolis, and Fran Flagg of South Bend. Five teams, tied at 67, split second, third and fourth money of $159.47. These teams were led by Professionals: Red Widener and Wayne Hensley of Anderson, Maurice Feeney and Gil Gividen of Indianapolis, and Bill Reed, local amateur who took the role of professional. Reed’s team. just missed the gravy train when, in the darkening twilight, its leader three-putted the 18th hole. *Feeney was low medalist for the ‘day with a 34-3468. Heinlein was next with a 35-34-69. Another pro-amateur will be held Monday at the Anderson Country Club, with Dick Nelson, for many years pro at Meridian Hills Coun=try Club here, acting as host. ‘
