The Alpha Omicron Alpha national sorority hoped to arrive. a step closer to achieving its goal of establishing a Girls’ Town, similar to Boys’ Town in Nebraska, when

the project was up for discussion at the sorority’s 21st annual conyenien Saturday at the Hotel Lincoln. Business sessions were attended by approximately 250 delegates from the 29 chapters in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio. Several chapters reported that they have “adopted” girls as candidates for residence in the proposed Girls’ Town when a location can be obtained. A fund has been started to finance the project. Mrs. J. R. Sentney of Indianapolis was re-elected grand president at a pre-convention council meeting Friday afternoon. Mrs. Charles Kuhinfan of Indianapolis was reelected treasurer and other officers were elected as follows: Mrs. Tim othy Baldwin, Chicago, first vice president; Mrs. David Boxell, Muncie, second vice president; Mrs. Charles E. Bowes, Indianapolis, recording secretary, and Mrs. H. H. Cavendar, Indianapolis, corresponding secretary.

Turley of Cleveland, O., chairman. At a noon luncheon, short talks were made by Mrs. Turley, Mrs. Byland, and Mrs. G. F. Kielhack, Minneapolis; Mrs. Arthur J. Stahr, St. Paul; Mrs. Fred J. Smith, Muncie; Mrs. Charles Harris, Columbus, and Mrs. Joseph Sahakian, Indianapolis. Charters were granted to two new chapters, Phi and Psi of Indianapolis, bringing the total to 31. The convention dinner, dance. and card party were held Saturday in the Travertine Room. Mrs. Sentney spoke and members provided a musical program. : Memorial services were held yesterday morning at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Roy Ewing Vale. A luncheon at the Lincoln followed and a model initiation service in the afternoon was the closing event.

Word has been received by Miss Lily Kerz, president of the local unit of the ZONTA CLUB, that Miss Helen Beach, regional chairman of Zonta International, with headquarters in Detroit, will - visit the Indianapolis Club during Zonta Week Nov. 10 to 15. Tomorrow evening Miss Kerz will preside at a dinner meeting in the Spink-Arms Hotel at 6:30 p. m. Miss Eunice Hensley, co-chairman of the program committee, will introduce the speaker of the evening, Miss Mary Cain of the Public Library, who will talk on “Books ih This Troubled World of Ours.” The club ‘will sponsor an autumn tes Sunday, Nov. 30.

An affiliate of the Union of Amer« ican Hebrew Congregations, central organization of Liberal Judaism in America, N. F. T. 8. engages in a broad program of service to Jewish and humanitarian causes. It cone tributes large sums annually to the Union for scholarships and relige ious educational work, especially youth activities. Special funds established by N. F, T. S. provide for publication of ree ligious school textbooks, correspond ence courses in Jewish history and literature for those in isolated communities, and institutes for adults and religious schocl teachers, To meet the present national and international emergency, the work of the federation has been devels oped in several ways. Immediate problems are: met by active co-op eration with Red Cross, British War Relief and United Service ore ganizations. Facing post-war problems, one N. F. T. 8S. national committee is directing study courses in social bet= terment and plans for world ree organization.
