Safeguard Persdnal Arms «And Machinery Used in 2 Business.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (U. P). =House-Senate conferees: on the ‘Administration’s ~ “draft property” bill have reached an agreement after ~ Jriting in safeguards against the * seizure of personal firearms or machinery in actual use in connection : with the operation of a business. The bill empowers the President, during the current national emergency but not after June 30, 1943, to requisition military or naval equipment, supplies, munitions, machinefy, tools, or materials necesgary for their manufacture, servicing or operation. Such property could be taken on the President’s determination that it is immediately needed for the defense of the United. States amd other means of obtaining it have been exhausted. The President would determine ,the amount of compensation and if the owner felt it was not satisfactory he could accept 50 per cent and gue in the courts for whatever he
considered just.

Feature of the program will be an address by Dr. Frederick Hirshman of Los Angeles, Cal, an alumnus who has traveled vigely and studied abroad. = : There is ‘no longer a high school ‘at Boxleytown, but the elementary grades are still taught ~there. . The old. high school has been merged with the Sheridan’ schools. But Boxleytown alumni still retain the school traditions at their reunions.

SERBS FIGHT UPRISING

P.)—The official DNB news agency reported from Belgrade today that Serb Army units defeated ‘“a group of | Communist bandits” in a battle that raged for many hours about 15 miles from Kalja, near the village of Beljina. (The newspaper Magyar Nemzets reported at Budapest that 12,000 Serbs of the Chetnik revolutionary
