EXPANSION PLANNED FOR BETH EL ZEDEK
Tentative plans for expansion of Beth El Zedek Temple at Ruckle and 34th Sts. were announced today d|by Rabbi Elias Charry following purchase of an adjacent residence property just south of the temple. Rabbi Charry said the residence property will be used’ temporarily as an annex to the temple to house primary classes and group activities. “We plan to build an addition to ‘| the temple as soon as it can be financed,” Rabbi Charry said. He said the congregation has outgrown the present building and that more room is necessary to handle increased activities.

JAPANESE BATTLING 300,000 AT CHANGSHA
SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (U. P.).— Japanese forces attacking Changsha, capital of Hunan province, south of Hankow, have launched “a battle of annihilation” against 300,000 crack troops defending the city, a Japanese military spokesman said today. : The Japanese Domei news agency said Changsha was bombed heavily today and that 20 fires had been started.
