of laywomen in hospital service. “Our women are being trained to perform non-technical hospital duties, relieving nurses ‘of some of their minor tasks, as the time comes wherf ‘we must share our nurses with the Gpvernment and have fewer on duty at home,” she said, She reported that the Guild has 2600 velunteer women workers in its ranks; organized into 45 chapters. “Women here give expression fo their ‘desire to serve sick humanity,” she said. “The technique that is developed arises from special interests and hobbies of the members. We have Music, Garden, Library, Children’s Cheer and Research Guilds, among others. “The ‘White Cross sponsors scholarships ‘in the Scheel of Nursing ‘which so far have assisted 172 young women to receive their education. Last ‘year our members made 2,120,307 surgical dressings and 20,700 articles of sewing in the work center in the nurses’ home. They

A schedule of early fall first-aid classes has been released by the Indianapolis Chapter, American Red Cross. The classes are open, without registration or tuition fees, to adults over 17 years of age, and are held in the World War Memorial Building. Class 1 held its first weekly session from 7:30 to 9:30 p. m. yussay. It is open to employees of H. P Wasson & Co. and others. Class 1-A opens Tuesday, Sept. 30, and will be from 9 to 11 a. m. ? On Wednesday, Oct. 1, Class 2-Al4 for advanced students holding standard certificates will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p. m. and each Wednesday thereafter. Class 3, which begins next Thursday, will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p. m. also. It is a standard class.
