P).—| | President Roosevelt has decided that | the new War Department Building | {will be on the Arlington County, Virginia, “flats” across the Potomac from Washington, not on a site that would obstruct the view of the Unknown Soldiers’ Tomb and the Lee | mansion in Ariington National Cemetery. { Mr. Roosevelt also decided the building would be but half the size authorized by Congress and that instead of it being the War Department’s main permanent offices it would be a structure that later could be used as a repository for Government records. { The building will ' $18.000,000. The President said that before he left office he hoped to see permanent Army and Navy buildings on the west end of Constitution Avenue. Then the buildings now {occupied by the Army and Navy. which were built as temporary structures during the World War, could be demolished.
