CHICAGO, July 31 (U. P.) —The, National Safety Council reported to- | day that the nation’s 1941 traffic toll was pointed toward an all-time high. The council announced there were 16.810 fatalities in automobile acci- | dents during the first six months of | the vear—a 17 per cent increase] over the 14420 figure for the same | period in 1940. “Unless this trend is checked.” the council said, “the 1941 traffic | toll will shoot past 40.000 for an all- | time high.
