JANE JORDAN
DEAR JANE JORDAN--I am a young girl of aimost 19. The man concerned is 33 years old. He tells me he loves me and I Know that I love him. But I'm just a common, ordinary girl with no topes of plans for the future and he has everything, He is an announcer on the radio and I've thought “Would I love him if he wasn't in the business he is in and even if he didn’t have a job and the answer always is ves” Do you think any one in his class really could love a girl who ig just a nobody? He doesn’t seem ashamed of me when he introduces me to his friends. In fact he hag given me a ring for my left hand, but I am terribly afraid that if I marry him I'll always be frightened for fear he'll think I am not the one for him after all. Yet if we part now t know I'll find myself shut into a dark world of loneliness. Do vou think he is too old for me? Please help me real soon and please don't laugh at my letter. IRISH BLOND.
- = »
Answer--I would net think of laughing at your letter. There is nothing funny about your state of mind. You've idealized the man and underestimated yourself, After all you have youth and it is a wonderful asset, If you're a nobody it's your own fauit. You're young enough to learn and pull vourself up to the level of your husband if. indeed, he 1s above you. You ean interest yourself in the things that ine terest him and gather a fund of information which will make you interesting as well as ornamental. Fifteen years is a hazardous difference in ages and creates a problem for you. At present you're so blinded by romance that you aren't facing the facts as coldly as you sheuld. You may not be able to give up the irresponsible good times that go with your age as easily as you think. Daily life with a man whose interests are mare mature may bore you in time. You ean’t imagine it now but after you see the man minus his halo you may not be so contentea (o sit around and adore him. While a wide difference in ages'is a hazard in marriage it is not insurmountable. It is your youth which has won the man but it will not be enough to hold him. You must take care that you do not play the role of baby in marriage. It's appealing for a while but gets wearisome. You must be prepared to carry your share of the ree sponsibility and develop into a real companion. You must be prepared to meet adversity and show courage when things go wrong, After all voure marrying a man and not a God. When this fact dawns upon you find other more stable values upon which to build your partnership. JANE JORDAN,
