CHICAGO, July 19. (U.P). — Wheat futures went on the upgrade in today’s short session on the Chicago Board of Trade with prices rising a cent a bushel before encountering stiff resistance. At the finish wheat was %4 to % cent a bushel higher with July at $1.013% @1.01%. Corn was unchanged to up %, July 73ca; oats off 13% to up %, July 22%ca; rye up % to 2%, July 56%cb, and soy beans were up: 2% to 3, July $1.53%.

P.). — Trustees for the Chicago elevated trains today formally petitioned the Illinois Commerce Commission for to raise city fares from | 1.00 Dr. Malone 10 to 12 cents and suburban fares proportionally. COLUMBIA, Mo, July 19 (U. P.), — From foreign correspondents in Europe and the country editors at the cross roads—his former students —came condolences today for the family of Frank L. Martin, dean of the University of Missouri Journals ism School, who died last night. He suffered a stroke soon after returning home from his regular summer school classes and died within a few nights. He was 60 years old. Mr. Martin was a pioneer with Walter Williams, who died in 1935, in developing Missouri Uni= versity’s journalism school, the na« tion’s first, into one of the acknowle edged leaders in its field.
