Out-of-Town Guests fo Be Enfertained During Western Tennis Championships
ENTERTAINMENT of out-of-town guests will add to the festivity in connection with the Western Tennis Championships opening Monday at the Woodstock Club. Among players te be guests in local homes are Miss Mary ‘Arnold of Los Angeles and Miss Dorothy Bundy of Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla. They will be with
the Sylvester Johnsons.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick T. Holliday will entertain for out-of-town players on Wednesday and Mr. and Mrs. William A. Atkins will be hosts for the group on Friday. Miss Florence Wolff, daughter of the Herman C. Wolffs, will have as her guest Miss Ann Spalding of Watertown, Conn., a classmate at Smith College. Miss Spalding arrives Tuesday for a week's visit here. Coming early next week for a two weeks’ visit with Miss Mary Scott Morse and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Morse, will be Miss Carol Wright of Old Greenwich, Conn. The girls are schoolmates at Wheaton College, Norton, Mass. They will see the tournament from the Morses’ box. With them will be Misses Sallie and Catherine Kemp of Frankfort.
Carolyn Culp Returning for Matches
MISS CAROLYN CULP, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. ‘Culp, will return next week from a house party on the Gulf to attend the matches. She is a guest, with several Bryn Mawr College classmates, of Miss Elizabeth Nicrosi of Montgomery, Ala. Others in the house party at the Nicrosi summer home are Miss Katherine Clement, Washington; Miss Agatha Martin, Baltimore, and Miss Julia Fleet, Atlanta. Dr. and Mrs. E. Bishop Mumford will be with the Culps at the tennis tournament. A program committee for the matches will be headed by Miss Helen Madden as chairman. “Salesmen” under her direction will be Misses Marjorie Geupel, Barbara Masters, Mary Jane Alford, Jean Elliott, Dana Hackerd, Susan Alvis and Alice Boozer. Miss Virginia Binford has returned home after a trip to Louisville, Ky. . . . Miss Patty Doud, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Doud, has returned from a visit in Chicago. While there she was’ the guest of Mrs. William B. Miller and daughters, Sally and Nancy, and attended the horse show at the South Shore Country Club.

A barn dance will be held tonight at the camp. Arrangements for the events are being made by the Camp council which is composed of two elected representatives from the three intermediate and senior camap units, a counselor representative from the three units, the camp director and her assistant. The list includes Lila Cullen and Janet Harshbarger, Troop 115, and Miss Mary Reese, counselor from the Woodland unit; Sally Ann McBride, ‘Troop 140, Janice Heithecker, Troop 1, and Miss Betty Gridley, Sleepy Hollow unit; Marcia Geckler, Troop 41; Charlotte Yarnell, Troop 132, and Miss Mary Jane Hess, Sherwood Forest unit, and Miss Lucile Cannon, camp director, and Miss Wilma Lang, assistant. A sepcial ceremony of colors and retreat was held yesterday for the campers. Each unit had a camp fire ceremony. \ .

He performed the candlelight ceremony at an improvised altar. There were no attendants. The bride wore a princess style white crepe frock in street length and a corsage of baby breath and pink rosebuds. She wore a gift of the bridegroom, a strand of pearls, Mrs. Coleman, mother of the bride, wore a navy and white print, white accessories and white roses. The bridegroom’s mother was in navy net embroidered with beige. A reception attended by 50 relatives and friends was held following the ceremony. Parents and friends of Girl Scouts will be guests tomorrow at Camp Dellwood. Open house, displays of handcraft and a swimming exhibition by the four units will be features of the visitor’s day.

Times Special LOS ANGELES, Cal, July 5.—A reception in the Cocoanut Grove of the Ambassador Hotel will be given by the California Business and Professional Women’s Clubs tomorrow as the opening feature of the B. P.
W. Federation’s national convention. The event will honor Dr. Minnie L. Maffett, Dallas, Tex., the national president. Several Indianapolis women are to attend the sessions which . will continue through Friday. They are Miss Sally Butler, North Central Region chairman; Miss Marjorie Ford, Indianapolis president; Mesdames Alta Pruitt, Delphia Gill and Bertha Lindgren; the Misses Betty Foster, Ruth Lewman, Frances Kelly, Grace Speer, Rae McKinnis, Louise Ford, Ruth Hoover and Edna Finney. Monday night the delegates and visitors will hear a talk by Charles P. Taft, assistant co-ordinator of the Federal Security Administration. Tuesday night, a panel discussion on “Viewing the Word From Countries Bordering the Pacific” will be featured. William K. Hopkins, district representative of the Office of Production Managament and industrial relations director of Columbia Pictures, will lead a vocational session on “New Frontiers of Usefulness.” Representatives of South America, Canada and the United States will talk on “Our Stake in Democracy” at the Thursday banquet.
