“Work or Force. Dismissal, [=r Jennings Says.
WPA | ‘workers ‘must accept Job Clem
. offers from the State Employment Service or face immediate dismissal from the work-relief program, State WPA Administrator John K. Jennings said today. ~The Administrator also disclosed
that further cuts in the WPA's|Ci 39,000 relief load are anticipated |]
about July 1. He warned all district. managers to be prepared to make corresponding administrative) and supervisory personnel slashes |Char on short notice. All WPA workers have been instructed to contaet local -employment service offices regularly, Mr Jennings said. Thus an active file ‘of ready help for employers will be kept,.he said. “A survey has been made which |; will be repeated regularly to see
that all WPA workers contact em- Xo
ployment services,” Mr, Jennings said. : WPA employment offices have received instructions to follow job advertisements closely and to attempt
to place WPA workers in these|; A
jobs. “The WPA files now reflect the
work record of every employee and show what each worker is best equipped to do,” he said. , “We -~stand ready to offer workers to any Indiana employer that makes a request.” In addition, workers are being encouraged to attend vocational classes where more than 750 of them are now receiving training for industry. Mr. Jennings said functions such as timekeeping and cost accounting will be consolidated, projects will be consolidated, there will be fewer employees per project, and special activities will be limited.

Dr. Kyle Yatesls Franklin Speaker
Times Special FRANKLIN, June 9.—Dr. Kyle M. Yates told 43 Franklin College graduating seniors here yesterday that the “art of the world is the art that is made glorious by God.” Speaking at the 107th baccalaureate service held on the college campus, Dr. Yates, professor of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said that the “most
glorious example of God is the way in which a soul may become new.” The service was the first in a series of events closing the school year at Franklin College. In the afternoon a musical interlude was held in the chapel.
