& Times Spesial > WASHINGTON, May 30—Part of the proposed saving in non-defense expenditures should be made in the Government's travel budget, which will run about $150,000,000 in this fiscal year, Rep. Wesley Disney (D. Okla.) ‘said today. = Rep. Disney is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is endeavoring to write the proposed $3,500,000,000 tax bill. - He recently specified savings of $1,800,000,000 which he thought could be made in non-defense expenditures. ~‘Today he pointed out that the Federal Government’s traveling expenses in fiscal 1940 came to $99,286,641, and that the prospect for fiscal 1941 was a travel bill of about $150,000,000. “This vast sum,” he said, “would buy some battleships, a lot of airplanes, and an immense amount of panzer division equipment.”
