Leaders in charge of governmental activities at the first Indiana Girls’ State, to be held June 14 to 21 on the Indiana Central College Campus, met this morning at the World War Memorial to make. further plans under the chairmanship of Mrs. H. S. Teitel. The American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring the

Eikenberry 12th District national defense chairman; Mrs. Louise Yoypg of Crown Point, Indiana Auxiliary president; Mrs. Martha Turpin, political science teacher at Tech; Mrs. Helen Kun\drat of Ft. Wayne and Mrs. Pearl Lee Vernon of Martinsville, state Americanism chairman, and Mrs. A. 'H. Mitchell. Miss Thuemler is president of the project’s advisory board and will have charge of all activities during the session, assisted by Mrs. Turpin. She is also on the Butler University staff. ‘Mrs. Byrd will have charge of the daily newspaper to be published by the high school girls attending the State and Mrs. Eikenberry will teach government classes. The general chairman, s. Teitel, will preside at the opening session June 14. Girls registered from every part of the state include 137 juniors or seniors in Indi high schools; exceeding the original registration openings set at 125. More applications have been rejected because of lack of facilities. Service smile zations and fraternal and social associations are sponsoring delegates.

Group Will Attend
Catholic Conference
Led by Mrs. Thomas J. Murphy, district president of the National Council of Catholic Women’s Indianapolis Diocesan Coutcil, a group y of local women will go to Bloomington Monday to attend a general meeting of the Indianapolis district. Other Catholic parishes in Central Indiana will be represented. . Response to a welcome by Mrs. M. Barry Doyle of Bloomington will be’ made by Mrs. George Evard of Indianapolis, district first vice president. Mrs. Murphy will preside at the afternoon meeting: and Mrs. ‘Joseph nley, district recording secretary, will read roll call. The meeting will follow 10 a. m. registration, a tour of the campus and a 2:15 p. m. luncheon in the university cafeteria. Board members will meet at 11 o'clock. The program will include talks on. study clubs and missions and a panel discussion on the confraternity of Christian doctrine by a Bloomington group. Opening and closing prayers will be made by the Rev. Fr. Leonard Wernsing and the Rev. Fr. August R. Fussenegger, both of Indianapolis.
Minstrel Show Set By Mothers’ Chorus
“The Lady Minstrels From Dixie” will be presented at 8 p. m. Wednesday by the Mothers’ Chorus of Joyce ilmer School in the school auditorium at 3400 N. Keystone Ave. The cast will include Mesdames Milliard Beckelhimer, Albert J. Emrich, Fred E. Coyle, Philip D. Gaines, Fred Roush, Clark J. Hardesty and Hetny W. Weiland. A “middy ensemble” will be composed of Mesdames Howard Garnett, Charles Wells, Gene Schick, Paul Lannerd, Richard Clark, Eldo G ner, -Corwin Theurer and Ralp Quigle, The chorus is directed by Mrs. Helen Thomas Martin. Miss Helen Virginia Ellis was to become the bride of George Beamer Davis Jr., son of Mr, and Mrs. George B. Davis of Greenfield, in a 3:30 p. m. ceremony today in McKee Chapel of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Ellis, 3720 N. Pennsylvania St., and Harry D. Ellis. The Rev. Stewart Hartfelter was to officiate at an altar behind which stood a lattice of greenery flanked by palms and floor vases of spring flowers. Miss Donna Alles, organist, was to play. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was to wear an apple green crepe frock in street length, a yellow hat, brown accessories gad a corsage of brown orchids. 8 The Women’s Auxiliary of the Athenaeum : Turners celebrated its 65th anniversary last night at a
banquet. Honor guest was Mrs. Kate Ulrich, the only living found-/ er. The ‘club has held monthly meetings since 1893, when the Athenaéum was built, and numbers 60 active members at present Mrs. Ulrich's daughter, Mrs. Carl B. Sputh; her grand-daughter, Mrs. John Hash, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Paul Ulrich, are also mempers of the Auxiliary. Mesdames Henry Moesch Sr., Bertha Otte, Ora Gough and Armin Graul have belonged for 50 years or more.
