JANE JORDAN
DEAR JANE JORDAN-My daughter, when very voung, had an affair with a close friend of the famil vy. Tt finally ran its course, Now it seems that fate has led her two daughters into the same disgusting road. This same man has had an affair with the eldest daughter and at present is interested in the teen age daughter, He Is In his forties and married. His home life is attractive and pleasant Shall T tell his wife? She knows of the other affairs. talk about it but I believe this time know she has had her fill,
She won't she would use some action as 1 Please advise me. WORRIED,
N » »
Answer—What could the man's wife do about it except divorce him thereby causing a nasty scandal which you don't want and leaving him even more free to indulge his taste for adolese ent girls? She did nothing about the previous affairs but waited for them to die down and disappear, Why deal with anyone except the man himself? Surely someone in your family has the authority to tell him what he can and cannot do where your family is concerned, What I don’t understand is why the ties of friendship weren't broken off years ago when your daughter was a girl, It was his first offense where your family was concerned, to be sure, and since he Was a younger man, perhaps there was nothing vou could do but let the affair run its course. But after it was over you should have severed your friendly relations with him instead of condoning his behavior by recognizing him as a friend all these years, Now that he is a mature person, hent upon making mischief with two vulnerable young girls, I don't see why vou are afraid to tell him exactly what you think of the whole shoddy performance and come to a sharp break with him and his wife. She may nbt be to blame but as long as she is married to him she will have to incur part of the opprobrium that rests on him. Kick him out. He deserves nothing. If you expect to influence the girls you will have to maintain a more sympathetic attitude, You can't stage scenes before them. Their mother, or someone who has their confidence, should give them some insight into the man's motives. When they see that he Is not motivated by any real interest in them but by some obscure wish to avenge his pride for failure with the mother, the attraction will surely vanish, I must admit that the whole story sounds somewhat fantastic to me. The fact that & man could charm two generations of women, exerting the same influence upon two daughters that he had with their mother in youth, arouses my incredulity, Are you sure of your facts, or could it be that your grudge against the man for his affair with your daughter hat made you read more into his present behavior than actually is there? Where is the father of your grandDoes he see eye to eye with you? , JANE JORDAN,
a Pul your problems In a letter te June Jor rian who will answer your questions
