This comedy team has the air a long time, too long 1n fact, but according to the announcer, bearing out a prediction printed here not so long ago, they are due as regulars for a new sponsor. Lum 'n’ Abner the broadcasting business but they still have plenty on the ball and there is no question but that radio always can find a place for their kind of humor.

“The Amazing Mr. Smith,” is the title of the new program and it will be aired by WIBC through transscription at 5:30 p. m. tomorrow, although the actual debut is scheduled for tonight at 7 on the other mutual outlets Probably when WIBC goes on full time the local station will catch the actual broadcasts. The program tells the story of a voung Eastern college graduate who gads about in an expensive, high speed car and runs into all sorts of {mysteries which he proceeds to solve with the help of one Herbie, formerly the college janitor. The first broadcast will be from the stage of the New Amsterdam | Theater in New York where Keenlan's father experienced his first |radio success as the “fire chief.” Harry von Zell is to be the announcer and Harry Salter will direct the orchestra for the series. n “Ode to a Nightingale,” an original radio play written by Maxwell Anderson is to have its premiere lairing on the Cavalcade program tonight, WIRE, at 9:30. n
