VICTIMS REVEAL HOURS IN PLANE
Crile and Pilot, Most Seriously Injured, Were Delirious at Times.
FT. PIERCE, Fla., April 5 (U. P.). —Some of the 16 shipwrecked men and women who spent 15 to 20
hours waist-deep in water in an Everglades swamp, described their experiences today. Their ship, an Eastern Air Lines passenger plane, pan-caked into the swamp at 9 a. m. Thursday and it was dawn yesterday before the last of them was removed. All were injured but only the conditions of Dr. George Crile, world-famous surgeon and scientist, and the pilot, Gerald O’Brien, remained serious today. Dr. Crile’s injuries in themselves were not serious, but he is 76 years old. One of his ribs was fractured, and his chest was severely bruised. At Indian River Hospital, Vero Beach, it was said that he was running a high temperature. Mrs. Crile, whose chest was injured, also had fever. Capt. O'Brien was in the
