But he isn't, and he's glad of it even though he's not sure just why “Tuffy,” one of the bears in his exhibit at the Indiana Sportsman’ Show, still is wearing his skin | “Spike Horn” runs an animal trading post in the wilds of northern Michigan and has handled bears and other animals all his life, but never before has he had a sick bear on his hands. When “Tuffy” became a very sick bear night before last — probably from too much crackerjack and candy, “Spike Horn” didn't know what to do. Then his fellow exhibitors at the Manufacturers’ Building of the Fair Grounds came to his rescue. One of the Indians in the water {show advised dousing “Tuffy” with cold water. “Spike Horn” was doubtful, but tried it out. It didn't seem to work. { Various other (were tried. Then Ora Kale, whose 10 performing Springer Spaniels are one of the hits of the show, came along and took charge, Ora doesn't know much about bears, but he does know dogs. So he tried out some of his (dog remedies on “Tuffy.” “Spike Horn” doesn't know whether to credit the icy bath or the dog medicine. but somewhere along the line “Tuffy” found something that helped, for today he appeared to be on the road to recovery.
None of the seven bears in Mever's {exhibit ever has been taught any tricks, but the natural antics of the [frolicsome cubs keep spectators amused, Besides the bears, the cage is occupied by “Queenie,” a mongrel
