Speaking before the Real Estate Board, State Senator Edward J.
Green (R. Indianapolis) yesterday proposed a seven-point program for improving Indiana's Legislature. The program included limiting the power of the Speaker and regulating the activities of lobbyists. Senator Green said that while “no one questions the integrity of Mr. Knapp (Speaker James Knapp) there are many who feel that so much power in the hands of a less competent man might prove exceedingly dangerous.”

Executives Approve Final Plans for 20th Anniversary

executive committee today approved final plans for the three houses which will form the centerpiece for the 20th anniversary exhibition opening at the State Fair
The
Homes in three price ranges ($4000, $7000 and $11,000) have heen selected to reach as wide income ranges as possible, according to Robert L. Mason, Home Show president. “I don't believe in the history of the Home Show we have had houses as representative of America and so planned to meet the needs of the American people,” Managing Director J. Frank Cantwell said.
Retains Georgian Simplicity
Leslie F. Ayres, largest of the homes, a house modern in appeal but retaining Georgian simplicity. Called “The 1941 Home’ it will be built by S. E. Arvin, The interior is quite modern in design but there is nothing extreme or garish about the lines. Mr. Ayres says it is “livable and palatable, representing no definite period.” Construction is from cinder blocks waterproofed white. Although there is a well-pitched hip roof there is no definite break at the eaves. The roof, alse white to blend with the exterior walls, is an innovation in color schemes A feature of the living room is a large square bay window completely of plate glass which may as a conservatory. Characteristic of Mr. Ayres’ technique, the living quarters are at the rear for privacy.

and an ingenious playroom miniature for children has been worked out together with an eadjoining playground. There are three bedrooms and two baths upstairs. For “The Homemakers Home,” architect Charles D. Ward followed the general lines of ranch-type dwellings with a combined stone and wide weatherboarding exterior. The house has five rooms. A recessed entrance leads to a small hall, with the living room at one side, back to the bedrooms bath. The home is planned for a ground floor utility room instead of a basement.

To be constructed by Bridges & Graves Co. it will be rebuilt after the show in Brockton, a subdivision 2000 east near Kessler Blvd, and Oxford St. It is planned to cost about $7000. The smallest home of the trio, the “All = American Four-Star Home,” was designed by Pierre &
