+ Services for Mrs. John W, Moore, president of the Seventh District Federation of Clubs, will be held at 2 p. m, tomorrow at the Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. Burial will be at Crown Hill. Mrs. Moore died yesterday at her home, 5025 Park Ave. She was 170. A former resident of Rushville, she was a founder of the D. A. R. chapter there and was instrumental in - founding the Rushville Public Library. She was a member of the D. A. R. the Order of Eastern Star, Woman's Department Club and the League of Women Voters. She also took part in the movement to provide free lunches for underprivileged Indianapolis children. Survivors include her husband, three sons, Paul of Indianapolis; Kenneth of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and John of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Charles D. Shipley, Waukegan, Ill,

and Mrs. Joseph B. Eads, Weston,

W. Va.; a brother, Everett W. Green, ‘Indianapolis, and two grandchildren.

The new contract will carry Jack into his eighth year with his present account and his tenth as a radio, comic. He entered the business in| 1932, a year which also witnessed the network debut of such sturdy performers as Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby and Burns and Allen. After his usual vacation Jack will continue to be heard Sundays at 6 p. m. over NBC-Red.

Compensation Payments in State 43% Over Those For December.

Times Special : WASHINGTON, March 12.—Although Indiana is one of the leading States in the allotment of war industries by the Government, unemployment compensation benefits in the State were 43.4 per cent greater in January than during the previous month, it was reported here today. They were 14 per cent less than in January, 1940, however, the report shows. The report was issued from the office of Federal Security Administrator Paul V. McNutt and covers both unemployment benefits and public employment service placements.

Benefits paid in January, 1941, were 27.1 per cent greater than in December, 1940, for the country as a whole, Mr, McNutt reported. The January payments in Indiana amounted to $626,902 and the minimum number of workers receiving benefits during the month was 18,8569. Since the payments were first inaugurated in April, 1938, a total of $36,589,363 has been paid. There were 9571 complete placements. in Indiana during January, the Federal - State Unemployment Service reported. While this is a drop of 9 per cent below December, it is an increase of 63.9 per cent over January, 1940. On Jan. 31, 1941, there were 158.445 job applications on the active file, an increase of 7.8 per cent over December but 15 per cent less than on Jan. 31, 1240.
